We Miss Mom! From Jadie

My mom was a wonderful person who will be missed greatly by her family and her wonderful second family in Hobbs. My mom raised my sister and I with a happy heart and a life of adventure. She made every day special, every holiday magical and taught us to
enjoy the little things. She spent summers teaching us academics and cryptograms on a huge chalkboard in our living room. Our best memories are the huge, elaborate games she created for us and a group of our closes friends, who she would be a mom to for the rest of her life. Her incredible imagination and keen sense of humor created a world of enchantment that had us children glued to our chairs in anticipation and laughter. Another great experience mom gave us were the elaborate scavenger hunts she created that had us all looking for clues all over our home town, she even got the fire department, library and other people in the community to play tricks on us during our searches. After our dad left when we were teenagers, mom worked three jobs so she could afford to have us stay with her. She sacrificed so much to see us finish high school and start college. In the early 90's mom moved to Midland, Texas where she met Barbara and Leon Green her best friends and the best people I have ever known. Soon, mom accepted Christ as her Savior and began a new life living for God and His purpose. She touched the lives of countless people through bible studies, ministry and visiting in the community. When mom saw a need or a problem she brought it to God in prayer. When we found out that all three of my children had autism mom dropped everything and came back to California to help. She patiently home schooled Toby, the oldest for 6 years. Due to her hard work he made great progress in language and appropriate behavior as well as academics. Mom and Toby became very close over the years and share some wonderful memories. They both loved playing video games which mom used as a tool to increase Toby's language. Her favorite joke with Toby was the missing Junior Mint. One day they shared a box of Junior Mints and Toby grabbed the last one before she could and swallowed it. He laughed as she chased him all around the house yelling,"I'm going to get my Junior Mint!". Now Toby plays this game with his little brother, Jonah who laughs as Toby chases him. Toby will graduate from highschool this year and he knows that Grandma will be watching him.
I can't even think of words to say how much I will miss Mom. I think about calling her so often, it really doesn't seem real that she isn't here. I know my Mom is in Heaven now and she couldn't be happier, but she will be missed until we see her again.
All our love and thanks,
Jadie, Mark, Toby, Evy and Jonah
P.S. In the last hour I spent with mom she said, "Stay close to God, everyday, all the time, stay close to Him, it's the answer to everything." Then she said, "Take Evy too the zoo to see the Toucans" We took Evy to the Zoo in San Diego where she saw the Toucans and wanted to take one home. Fortunately, we found a stuffed one that she liked almost as well, mom would have loved that!
